Epsom Salt Exposed

Salt (sodium chloride) is more complex than it seems, it can have chemicals added to it, and very frequently does, without the name changing. Salts traditionally used in bath salts include dendritic salt and Epsom salt (magnesium sulphate). However, both these salts are actually “manufactured”. Dendritic salt has an acid added to the sodium chloride to encourage the crystals to form star shapes, long desired by bath salt makers because essential oils can easily adhere to these stars, unlike cube shaped crystals. Epsom salt, once mined as a naturally occurring material, is now created in the laboratory as a chemical by-product. We searched to find an Australian salt that was completely natural and fit the organic standards and we succeeded!

The salt we source is naturally harvested from 5 million year old salt lakes situated in the remote regions of Western Australia, an ecologically pristine environment. The salt is simply skimmed from the surface of the lake, filtered and kiln dried, it is unrefined and unbleached with no chemical additives thus the natural character and composition of the salt remains undisturbed. Lake salt naturally replenishes trace elements, such as calcium and magnesium.

These special Australian Salts have been awarded a Biological Farmers Association of Australia (BFA) registration to indicate nothing has been added and nothing has been taken away, simply formed and harvested as nature intended.
